In New York City there are eleven better workplaces than Return Path, according to Crain's New York Business. That's a lot more than we thought.
On a serious note, we're delighted and humbled to be recognized as one of the best places to work in New York City. In an environment as big and competitive as this it's never easy to stand out, so being honored for any achievement is all the more meaningful. But to win an award for such a vital part of who we are is incredibly gratifying. Here's why:
First, Return Path has always made it a top priority to develop a culture of trust and autonomy, to create an environment where people feel valued and empowered. It's not just because we want this to be a great place to work -- we do, but we also think of it as a competitive advantage.
Second, this award doesn't come from Crain's or from a third-party evaluation of practices and policies. It comes from our employees. The Best Places to Work ranking is based on confidential feedback from employees, focusing largely on how engaged they are, how much they feel like a central part of their company's mission and identity.
On both counts, this award means we're on the right track. (Click here to find out more about what it's like to to work here.)
Of course we're celebrating here in New York. Please check out the official article in Crain's: Crainsnewyork.com/bestplaces -- you'll also see the other 49 companies that represent New York City's top workplaces. Congratulations to everyone on the list!
P.S. If you're wondering whether you've see this before, you may be thinking of FORTUNE magazine's 50 Best Companies to Work for, which ranked Return Path #11 in October. Or possibly the Society for Human Resource Management's 2012 list of the best places to work in Colorado -- we're #3 in that ranking.
