Congratulations to Return Path’s Joshua Baer, named Austin’s Community Leader of the Year by the Entrepreneur Foundation of Central Texas. If you know Josh (and if you’ve so much as passed through the email or Austin technology community, you do) you’ll have a hard time coming up with anyone more deserving of this title. He’s a sought-after advisor to startups and young companies, the creative energy behind the workspace/incubator Capital Factory, and a passionate ambassador working to connect local entrepreneurs to capital, talent, and each other. Earlier this month CNN highlighted Josh’s work to promote Austin’s tech-friendly business environment, coordinating a competition during SXSW for a $100,000 relocation package – to move a startup to Austin.
Josh’s community leadership has had a ripple effect—especially in the email ecosystem—that has virtually circled the globe. As a visionary force behind the Inbox Love conference and an evangelist for email’s new wave of innovation, his ideas are connecting people in new ways and making email smarter, safer, and better for marketers, mailbox providers, and consumers. Josh is helping to keep Return Path ahead of these trends and in the center of the email universe.
So it’s a true pleasure to celebrate Josh’s community leadership, from both a global perspective and a local one. The waves of his influence are far reaching, but their source can always be traced back to Austin.
