Congratulations Sal Tripi!

2013 Stefan Pollard Marketer of the Year Award Winner

Couldn’t have happened to a nicer guy. We’re thrilled to congratulate Publishers Clearing House’s Sal Tripi, this year’s EEC Stefan Pollard Marketer of the Year.

I’d offer some background on Sal for people who don’t know him, but I’m not sure there are any. Sal chairs the Online Trust Alliance, sits on the DMA Ethics Committee and the IAB’s Email Committee, and speaks extensively on consumer data protection, compliance issues and policymaking, and marketing best practices. Over the course of his 19 years at PCH, Sal’s influence has spread throughout the entire email marketing community.

Over the past year, in addition to leading the OTA and lending time to the Email Experience Council, Sal was among the first marketers to start using the DMARC standard to protect consumers from phishing attacks. Naturally he shared PCH’s experience to help other marketers understand DMARC’s application and potential to make the email ecosystem safer.

As EEC co-chair, I see Sal’s passion for email marketing first-hand. He’s a quintessential leader in our space, and it’s noteworthy that he was nominated for this award alongside two standout figures in our industry: Acxiom’s Ryan Phelan and Trendline Interactive’s Morgan Stewart. Both have made impressive contributions to email marketing and were deserving candidates in their own right – and both are probably as happy as we are for Sal.

It’s also fitting that Sal wins an award named for Stefan Pollard, another industry leader who always seemed to look beyond his own interests to find ways to improve the email channel. Sal’s work has made email marketing better for consumers, more effective for marketers, and more secure for mailbox providers, and it’s great to see him win an honor like this. Congrats, Sal!
