Email Intelligence company praised for demonstrating commitment to community and employee wellbeing, exceptional transparency and executive communication

NEW YORK — Sep. 23, 2013 — Return Path, the global leader in email intelligence, today announced that it has been ranked No. 4 on FORTUNE Magazine’s “50 Best Companies to Work For” as a medium-sized workplace. FORTUNE highlighted Return Path's commitment to employee wellbeing, family-friendly policies, support for community volunteerism, and open, inclusive corporate culture among reasons for the company’s high ranking.

“Ranking so high on FORTUNE’s ’50 Best Companies to Work For’ list honors every one of our 400 employees because we could never sustain the kind of people-first culture that makes us successful without total commitment to it, especially as we continue our rapid growth,” said Matt Blumberg, CEO of Return Path. “Every Return Path employee, no matter where we’re located around the world, lives by a shared set of values that build trust, openness, and excellence. They’ve made us a great place to work, but they’ve also created a high-performance environment that gives us a real competitive advantage.”

FORTUNE cited Return Path’s use of unlimited time-off policies to encourage volunteer work, allowing employees to participate in community rebuilding projects in the wake of Hurricane Sandy. The company also provides annual grants to employee groups that work with local charities and organize fundraising efforts in their communities. Employees also recounted personal experiences in which the company took extraordinary steps to provide support during difficult life events.

To pick the 50 Best Companies, FORTUNE partners with the Great Place to Work Institute to conduct the most extensive employee survey in corporate America. Two-thirds of a company's score is based on survey responses from randomly selected employees.

The full list and related stories will appear in the October 7, 2013 issue of FORTUNE and is now available at http://money.cnn.com/gallery/news/companies/2013/09/19/best-small-medium-companies.fortune/30.html

About FORTUNE’s 50 Best Companies to Work For

To pick the 50 Best Companies to Work For, FORTUNE partners with the Great Place to Work Institute to conduct the most extensive employee survey in corporate America. More than 10 million employees at participating companies responded to a survey created by the institute, a global research and consulting firm operating in 45 countries around the world. Two-thirds of a company’s score is based on the results of the institute’s Trust Index survey, which is sent to a random sample of employees from each company. The survey asks questions related to their attitudes about management’s credibility, job satisfaction, and camaraderie. The remainder of the score is based on responses to the institute’s Culture Audit, which includes detailed questions about pay and benefit programs and a series of open-ended questions about hiring practices, methods of internal communication, training, recognition programs, and diversity efforts. The list and related stories will appear in the October 7, 2013 print edition of FORTUNE Magazine, and are available now at http://www.greatplacetowork.com/2013-best-medium-workplaces/return-path.
