Return Path Has Interns! Meet DevOps Intern Keerthi Pai

Posted by Clifford Chi

Our intern spotlight continues! This week, Keerthi Pai, a DevOps intern working in Broomfield, Colorado, will be spotlighted! She moved to the U.S. from India last year, and we are ecstatic to be a part of her new life in America!

Let’s meet her!

Tell us a little about yourself!
I am from Bangalore, India and moved to Boulder, Colorado to pursue my Masters in Computer Science at the University of Colorado-Boulder. I enjoy playing soccer, and I am a die-hard supporter of Arsenal FC.

What made you want to intern at Return Path?
I heard about Return Path at a career fair. The representatives had a unique way of interacting with students. They spoke to me about their projects and work culture, and I was sold. I gave them my resume, and they called me later for an interview.

What are your main projects at Return Path?
I am currently working to automate quarterly data movement from a Hive cluster in our data center to an AWS S3 bucket for Email Optimization analytics. My previous projects included automation script for user reporting and long running query reporting in Oracle RDS.

What do you enjoy the most about being an intern at Return Path?
First, my team and the people at Return Path, they are so cheerful and amazing to learn from. My mentor ensures that I have something challenging to work on every week while giving me the time and space to learn and come up with my own solutions. Second, I love how much I am learning. In the short time I have worked at Return Path, I’ve gotten to play around with dockers, worked on software frameworks for distributed storage and processing, and worked on Oracle RDS.

When you’re not working, what can you be found doing in Colorado?
This being my first time in the United States, I have enjoyed exploring Colorado, especially the various bike and hiking trails. I tried skiing last winter, which I failed miserably at (but will not stop me from trying again this winter).

What is your spirit animal?
A butterfly. A lot has changed since I moved to Boulder from India, and it wouldn’t have been possible if I wasn’t open to change and transformation.
